Central Oklahoma’s Marketing Association Elects New President, Officers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Frontier Country Marketing Association, a membership-based organization that promotes tourism in central Oklahoma, elected a new president and officers, and added two new members to its board of directors during its annual meeting and awards luncheon June 26 at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum.

The new president is Shawnee-resident Gordona Rowell, director of the Greater Shawnee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau since 2001. She serves on the board of directors for Oklahoma Association of Fairs and Festivals. She is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

“This next year we are going to continue the momentum of the state’s centennial and our successes from the last fiscal year,” said Rowell during the organization’s annual meeting. “We want to increase membership, get new members involved and understanding the value of Frontier Country and its cooperative advertising opportunities, and create more profit-center projects so we can grow and get the best out our of marketing dollars.”

The association also elected four new officers. Sherri Rogers, director of the Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau, is president-elect. Tammy Kretchmar, administrative assistant to the city manager of Yukon, is treasurer. Chad Huntington, general manager of Water Taxi, is secretary. Kari Watkins, executive director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, is past-president.

Two new Frontier Country members joined the board of directors: Okemah-resident Tina Massey, administration manager at Grape Ranch in Okfuskee County, and Sandy Sarette, owner of Tatanka Ranch in Stroud, which is in Lincoln County.

Board members who continue their service are: Christy Alcox, Oklahoma Heritage Association; Leslie Baker, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum; Tom Collins, Moisant Promotional Products, Inc.; Kristi Davis, Festival of Light and Chickasha Chamber of Commerce; Marci Donaho, Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum; Cristy Morrison, Stillwater Convention and Visitors Bureau; Sharon Lair, Remington Park; and George Watts, Guthrie Centennial.
