Central Oklahoma's Event Calendar - October 2013

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Visit Guthrie for a variety of events happening the first weekend in October. Bluegrass musicians from all over the world join together for the annual Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, Oct. 3-5 at Cottonwood Flats. Ticket prices vary for the event. Guthrie Escape: Art, Wine & Music Festival, Oct. 5-6 features artist booths, live demonstrations, children’s area, wineries and more on the streets of historic downtown Guthrie. Guthrie Escape is free and open to the public.

Yukon celebrates Czech heritage with the Oklahoma Czech Festival Oct. 5 on Main Street. Beginning at 8 a.m., this free festival includes a parade at 10 a.m., carnival, art booths, live music, kolaches and more Czech food. The finale to the day is the Official Czech Royalty Coronation Ball at Yukon Czech Hall complete with Czech music and dancing from 5:30 to midnight.

Lyric at the Plaza presents The Rocky Horror Show Oct. 16-Nov. 2 at the Plaza Theatre in Oklahoma City. One of Lyric’s biggest hits is back by popular demand! Get weird and rock all night with Richard O’Brien’s THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Whether it’s your first time or this musical is part of your soul, join Lyric Theatre for ‘a night you will remember for a very —long—time!’ Tickets are $40.

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City hosts Cowboy Crossings Oct. 11-12. Cowboy Crossings, a major lineup of fine art exhibitions and sales, includes the Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) 48th Annual Sale & Exhibition alongside the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA) Exhibition and Sale, now in its 15th year. The combination offers collectors of Western fine art an unparalleled opportunity in one location.

Experience a one-of-a-kind shopping extravaganza for all ages at An Affair of the Heart Oct. 25-27. Located at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, An Affair of the Heart features several buildings of arts, crafts, custom furniture, jewelry, clothing, home décor, seasonal items and much more. Admission is $7 and covers all three days of the show.
