Central Oklahoma’s Event Calendar November 2017

The following is a truncated list of events occurring in Central Oklahoma Frontier Country.

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Celebrate Native American Heritage at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman with an event featuring food, dance and a collaborative art activity recognizing the diverse traditions and contribution of indigenous people from 6-8 p.m.


Relive the golden age of steam railroading when the Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City host Leigh Valley Coal Company #126. The beautifully restored 1930s-era coal-burning saddle tank steam locomotive affectionately known as “Sadie”. On November 4 and 5, ride in vintage 1920s & 30s passenger cars, on an open flatcar or caboose and enjoy the unique experience of hearing that engine chug down the track during the 40-minute excursion. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $5.00 ages three to twelve and under three ride free as a lap child.


Enjoy the wholesome, outdoor physical exercise and camaraderie of ice skating under the open skies and starlit nights at Mitch Park in Edmond. This large rink is open November 17-20 and offers free adjacent parking, food concessions, indoor restrooms, and open sessions so you may come and go at your convenience. On November 18, the Luther Pecan Festival in Downtown Luther features an art show, market, live music, food trucks, pecan cookoff and car show from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.


Yukon’s “Christmas in the Park” offers a drive through a three-park complex with over 125 fantastic visual displays, 100 acres of illuminated magic and more than 4 million twinkling lights.  Visitors may drive, walk or ride a train through the lights.  The lights are open November 18 through December 31 from 6:00-11:00 PM nightly.
