CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – The Guthrie Art Walk is a celebration of fine art, food and fun as historic downtown Guthrie shops and galleries showcase special events and artists Nov. 9. The evening walkabout takes place from 4 to 9 p.m. and includes a range of works in painting, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, jewelry, music and more.
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City presents its annual Small Works, Great Wonders Winter Art Sale, Nov. 15. This one-night art sale offers works from 124 artists with more than 225 works of art in the total show. Small Works, Great Wonders offers smaller works of art with many artist renderings of winter scenes. Patrons can leave with their purchased art at the conclusion of the event and works are available to view online.
Celebrate Oklahoma Statehood Day Nov. 16 at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the museum will offer free admission for all guests in honor of Oklahoma’s 106th birthday along with family-friendly activities and an Oklahoma birthday cake.
In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Oklahoma City Zoo offers free admission the day before Thanksgiving each year. All guests can visit the Zoo free of charge Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Oklahoma City’s Downtown in December holiday festivities kick off with the opening of the Devon Ice Rink at the Myriad Botanical Gardens on Nov. 15. The SandRidge Christmas Tree Lighting Festival is Nov. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. Enjoy free Santa photos, live music, snacks, face painting and more family-friendly activities. Downtown in December continues through the holiday season with an abundance of activities in downtown OKC including snow tubing, holiday lights, Water Taxi rides, free museum Sundays and much more.
November also includes the opening of many holiday light displays in Central Oklahoma Frontier Country: Midwest City’s Holiday Lights Spectacular is Nov. 22-Dec. 30, Yukon’s Christmas in the Park is Nov. 23-Dec. 31 and Chickasha’s Festival of Light is Nov. 23-Dec. 31.
