CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – The greatest names in professional rodeo test their skills in the annual Timed Event Championship of the World March 2-4 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie. Sixteen-time world champion Trevor Brazile headlines the top 20 cowboys competing in five timed events – heading, heeling, tie-down roping, steer roping, steer wrestling. Performances are March 2-3 at noon and 7:30 p.m. and March 4 at 1 p.m. For more information and tickets: lazye.com.
The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman opens “A Century of Magic: The Animation of the Walt Disney Studios” March 3. This exhibition, from a private collection, includes more than 80 Walt Disney animation cels used in the original production of the animated films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio along with Mickey Mouse and dozens of other characters. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Oklahoma River Cruises March 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Enjoy a climate-controlled, Irish-themed St. Patty’s Day Cruise along the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City complete with savory appetizers, Irish tunes and dancing. The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma celebrates its 24th Anniversary by offering free admission to all guests March 25. Yukon’s 13th Annual Taste of Yukon is March 29 at the Robertson Activity Center. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the event will feature a “taste” of 20 area restaurants including the Friends of the Park Chocolate Corner and Yukon Mobile Meals Strawberry Crepes. The annual Medieval Fair at Reaves Park in Norman is March 30-April 1. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, browse the medieval village of over 200 art and craft booths along with performers, games, jousting tournaments, costume contests, dancing, magicians and more. For more information: visitnorman.com.
