STILLWATER,  Okla.  - Opening the  OSU  Allied  Arts  Performance Season on September 18, 2015, is Las Cafeteras, a musical group considered the “Best Latin Alternative Band,” in 2013 by LA Weekly.The group is known for remixing the musical roots of Latin America with modern day stories and the sounds of punk, hip hop and rock.

Las Cafeteras formed as a band in 2008 from the streets Los Angeles with the intent to capture the histories of their neighborhoods through music.Their unique choice of instruments strengthens their eclectic sound and includes a Mexican stringed instrument called a Jarana, a donkey jawbone, a percussion instrument from Peru called the Cajon and the Marimbol West African bass instrument.

Las Cafeteras will perform at the Seretean Concert Hall on the Oklahoma State University campus at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for Las Cafeteras are $22.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at tickets.okstate.edu or by phone at 405-744-7509. They will also be available at the OSU Seretean Center Concert Hall the evening of the performance beginning at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
