Central Oklahoma’s Event Calendar June 2013

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Celebrate the western history of the Chisholm Trail with a fun, Cajun twist at the Chisholm Trail & Crawfish Festival, June 1 at the Kirkpatrick Family Farm in Yukon. The free festival includes living history reenactments, authentic Cajun foods, craft booths, pony rides, gunfights, crawfish-eating contest, Kids Kreative Korral, live music and more from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival is June 7-9 at the Cox Convention Center. More than 1,200 American Indian artists and dancers will gather to celebrate the richness and diversity of their heritage with the world. Enjoy Native American culture along with art sales, dancing, food and more. The festival kicks off with the parade through downtown OKC beginning at 10 a.m. on June 7.

The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the 4th annual Hog Wild BBQ & Chrome Fest at the Tilghman Park Rt 66 Pavilion, June 14-15. The event is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned Oklahoma State Championship BBQ contest along with two days of family fun in Chandler including vendors, crafters, children’s activities, car and bike show, live music and more.

Norman’s annual Jazz in June features a three-evening concert series, June 20-22. Jazz in June Festival continues its 30-year tradition of bringing Oklahoma and national jazz and blues artists free to the public with nightly events in Brookhaven Village on June 20-21, and in Andrews Park on June 22.

Dive-In Movies at White Water Bay in Oklahoma City begin June 21 and continue each Friday night through August 2. Relax in the Wave Pool and enjoy a family-friendly movie after a fun-filled day at the park. Dive-In Movies begin at dusk and are free with regular park admission.
