Central Oklahoma’s Event Calendar January 2014

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Throughout January and February, enjoy Free Mondays at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Guests of all ages will receive free admission each Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 44th International Finals Rodeo is Jan. 17-19 at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. The IFR features the top cowboys and cowgirls of the International Pro Rodeo Association competing for World Championship titles in eight events. Performance times are Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 18 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary.

Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City hosts ArtNow, an annual exhibition and event celebrating the work of Oklahoma’s top contemporary artists on Jan. 24 beginning at 7 p.m. Attendees have an opportunity to interact with the artists and purchase their newest works, while enjoying live music, food and drinks. This is a 21 and over event. Tickets are $50-$100. The exhibition runs from Jan. 20 to Feb. 7.

OKC Philharmonic Pops presents The Midtown Men at the Oklahoma City Civic Center, Jan. 24 and 25. Four stars from the original cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys bring a crisp authentic sound to their 60s inspired Pops show. From The Beatles to The Four Seasons, you’ll enjoy a jukebox of hits! Show begins at 8 p.m. each night.

Lyric Theatre opens its 2014 season Jan. 29 with The Odd Couple. What happens when two unlikely friends find themselves as roommates? Hilarity ensues! Experience the side-splitting comedy of this Neil Simon classic. The Odd Couple runs through Feb. 15 at Lyric’s Plaza Theatre in Oklahoma City and tickets are $40.

  • 100th Annual School of Art & Art History Student Exhibition, Jan. 14-Feb. 16  at Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman
  • The Daily Artifact, Jan. 16-April 5 at Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City
