Central Oklahoma’s Event Calendar January 2013

The following is a truncated list of events occurring in Central Oklahoma Frontier Country.
Dates are subject to change.

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Throughout January and February, enjoy Free Mondays at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Guests of all ages will receive free admission each Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The SNL Comedy Show featuring Jon Lovitz, Chris Kattan and Tim Meadows, visits Shawnee’s Grand Casino Resort on Jan. 12. The show begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $24-$59.

The 43rd International Finals Rodeo is Jan. 18-20 at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. The IFR features the top cowboys and cowgirls of the International Pro Rodeo Association competing for World Championship titles in eight events. Performance times are Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 19 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary.

City Arts Center in Oklahoma City hosts Art Now, an annual exhibition and event celebrating the work of Oklahoma’s top contemporary artists on Jan. 25 from 7 to 11 p.m. Attendees have an opportunity to interact with the artists and purchase their newest works, while enjoying live music, food and drinks. This is a 21 and over event. Tickets are $75-$100. The exhibition continues from Jan. 21-Feb. 8.

Lyric Theatre opens its 2013 season Jan. 30 with Some Enchanted Evening. Rediscover the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein with this delightful production featuring songs from some of the greatest musicals of all time. Runs through Feb. 16 at Lyric’s Plaza Theatre in Oklahoma City and tickets are $40.

  • Generations, Jan. 4-March 29 at Red Earth Museum & Gallery in Oklahoma City
  • Starmaker: Jim Halsey and the Legends of Country Music, Jan. 18-April 5 at Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City
  • 20th Century African American Art:  Selections from the Arthur Primas Collection, Jan. 19-March 17 at Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee
