OKLAHOMA CITY – Frontier Country Marketing Association presented awards to 20 members and six media outlets during its 2008 Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum June 26.

The annual awards, which were voted by Frontier Country members, recognize outstanding tourist attractions, events and businesses in central Oklahoma’s promotion organization.

“I believe in the strength and support of the multi-county organizations. We’re only as good as we can be locally,” said Lt. Gov. Jari Askins, keynote speaker at the event. “The synergy that partnership creates is just phenomenal.”

The event recognized the accomplishments of Frontier Country members and media support in 17 award categories.

“It’s the culmination of a year’s work and we’ve had great successes here in central Oklahoma,” said Kari Watkins, past-president of the board of directors, during the event. “We’re very proud of what we have to show off and we want people to understand why it’s important to be here as a part of Frontier Country.”
