Frontier Country Hold Anual Awards Luncheon

OKLAHOMA CITY – Frontier Country Marketing Association will hold its Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon with keynote speaker Lt. Gov. Jari Askins at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum June 26.

Each year, central Oklahoma’s multi-county tourism promotion organization honors its members with awards for outstanding tourist attractions, exhibitions and events.

“Our annual awards ceremony spotlights the exemplary work of all our attractions,” said Tony Vann, executive director of FCMA. “Central Oklahoma boasts a huge variety of events and attractions, which generate crucial dollars for the economy. This event truly reflects the importance of each member of our organization.”

Frontier Country awards categories include best new attraction, outstanding event, outstanding public relations campaign, outstanding Web site, best tourism community, outstanding hospitality and more.

A new category added this year is the Frontier Country Outstanding Food Festival. Nominees include Choctaw’s Oktoberfest, Norman’s Annual Chocolate Festival and Gala, El Reno’s Annual Onion Fried Burger Day Festival, Wewoka’s Sorghum Festival, Prague’s Kolache Festival, Chandler’s Ice Cream Festival, Take of Yukon and Taste of Edmond.

In addition, the marketing association also awards newspaper, radio and television outlets for outstanding media support to Frontier Country members.

Frontier Country members voted in May and the winners will be announced at the awards luncheon. Frontier Country members and media nominees are invited to attend. Cost is $30 per person. Reservations are required; call 405-232-6552.
