CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Join Remington Park as they host an entertaining show for racing fans of all ages with Extreme Racing April 10. Featuring camels and ostriches competing for their chance in the Winner’s Circle, Extreme Racing will take place during live American Quarter Horse and Mixed Breed racing beginning at 1:30 p.m. For more information: remingtonpark.com.
Enjoy an Arts Trek April 16 at St. Gregory’s University and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This family-friendly arts adventure features an arts festival and a performance walk that takes place from 10 a.m. to noon. Browse artists’ booths along with hands-on art activities for children and adults. Food vendors are also on site. Arts Trek is free and open to the public. For more information: mgmoa.org.
Festival of the Arts is a community celebration of the visual arts, performing arts and culinary arts April 26-May 1. The Festival takes place in Downtown Oklahoma City at the Festival Plaza, Stage Center and the Myriad Botanical Gardens. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For more information: artcouncilokc.com.
Celebrate the famous Land Run of 1889 April 26-30 in Oklahoma’s first capital during Guthrie’s 89er Celebration. Enjoy a territorial baseball game, rodeo, arts and crafts, a children’s carnival a grand parade. The parade begins at noon April 30. For more information: guthrieok.com.
The Norman Music Festival is free and open to the public and will take place on the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of historic Downtown Arts District April 28-30. Thursday and Friday entertainment will be predominantly at indoor locations, and Saturday will feature the full-blown festival atmosphere complete with street closures and large outdoor stages.
