Central Oklahoma Frontier Country Full of Fall Happenings
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Situated at the crossroads of I-35, I-40 and I-44 the 12 central counties of Oklahoma, known as Frontier Country, offer an abundance of events, attractions and destinations to entertain the whole family this fall.
“Central Oklahoma’s Frontier Country is the perfect place to
plan getaways this fall with all of the events we have going on,” said Sherri
Rogers, executive director of Frontier Country Marketing Association. “Frontier
Country is also ideally located for those quick trips on fall break.”
Festivals
Choctaw’s 20th
Annual Oktoberfest Sept. 8-11 is a celebration of German tradition complete
with traditional folk dancing, singing, authentic costumes and a variety of
beers and German food prepared by Old Germany Restaurant. The family-friendly
festival at Choctaw Creek Park features a variety of entertainment for those of

The annual Oklahoma Czech Festival
is Oct. 2 in Downtown Yukon. Beginning at 9 a.m., Yukon celebrates their Czech
heritage with this free, one-day festival featuring numerous activities
including a parade, carnival, crafts, Czech dancing and food. The finale of the

Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes
The Mikles Family
Farm in Shawnee offers plenty of activities for an entire day at the farm.
The five-acre corn maze of thick, tall stalks features more than two miles of
walking trails to trek through in daylight or dark. Other activities include an
old-fashioned hayride, farm animals, campfire and a pumpkin patch with more
than 25 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and ornamental squash still on the vine.
The Mikles Family Farm is open weekends from Sept. 18 through Nov. 13. For more

In Oklahoma City near Moore, Orr Family Farm has a variety of fall activities to entertain the
family including a corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, train rides, fishing
pond, pony rides and more. The Orr Family Farm corn maze is open late September

Located near Marshall in the northwest corner of central
Oklahoma Frontier Country, Daze in a
Maze provides fall family fun from Labor Day through Thanksgiving weekend.
Daze in a Maze features a six-acre hay bale maze, petting zoo, pumpkin patch,
picnic and play areas along with a number of corn mazes, one that covers more
than 300,000 square feet. The farm is open to the public on Saturdays and
Sundays and also weekdays by appointment. For more information visit

Chickasha’s Reding Farm offers The Maize, Oklahoma’s largest corn maze covering 35 acres. Open
September through October, Reding Farm is complete with hayrides, pumpkin
patch, train rides, campfire and a large sand box. At night, experience the Haunted

Halloween Events
Experience Frontier City’s FrightFest throughout October with festivities for all ages. Open
on weekends from Oct. 8-31, FrightFest features the kid-friendly BooVille including
the Trick-or-Treat Trail, pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, story telling,
face painting and more. For the brave at heart, stop by the House of Screams,

Oklahoma City Zoo hosts its annual Haunt the Zoo for Halloween Oct. 26-31. Haunt the Zoo, one of
Oklahoma’s largest Halloween celebration, offers six nights of family-friendly
trick-or-treating throughout the Zoo grounds. Visit okczoo.com for more

Haunt the Harn at
the Harn Homestead &1889ers Museum
is October 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to
trick-or-treat at each of the historic buildings on the Homestead grounds and
participate in games and crafts. Other activities include a hayride and
marshmallow roasting around a campfire. Admission per child is $3 in advance
and $5 at the door. Parents accompanying children are free. For more

Other Can’t-Miss Fall Events
The $400,000 Oklahoma Derby Day Oct. 10 is Remington
Park’s biggest day during their Thoroughbred racing season. The first
Remington Park race on Oklahoma Derby Day is set for 1:30 p.m. with plenty of
other activities for the whole family taking place throughout the day. Thoroughbred racing season continues through

Central
