Central Oklahoma's July-August Calendar Now Available

The following is a truncated list of events occurring in Frontier Country:

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – Take part in a weeklong celebration of America’s birthday at Edmond’s LibertyFest June 28 to July 4. Eleven festivals events, including Oklahoma’s largest hometown 4th of July parade, make this celebration one of CNN’s and “USA Today’s” top places to be in America on July 4. Catch a Broadway performance by the Lyric Theatre at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City. The summer season kicks off with the “Sound of Music” June 24 to 28, followed by “Swing!” July 8 to 12, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” July 22 to 26 and “Urinetown: The Musical” Aug. 5 to 9. The 16th annual International Finals Youth Rodeo is giving way more than $200,000 in prizes for the top high school cowboys and cowgirls this year. More than 1,000 contestants are competing with three arenas running simultaneously July 14 to 19 at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center in Shawnee.

Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, the state’s premier classical theatre company, presents its 2008 summer season at Myriad Gardens Water Stage in downtown Oklahoma City. The summer season runs through Aug. 30 and includes productions of “Much Ado About Nothing,” “The Three Musketeers” and “Richard III.” All performances start at 8 p.m.
