For the exhibition, New York-based Peters has created sculptural installations specifically for presentation in the Museum's galleries. The physicality of Peters' work is reinforced by a large-scale presence and use of ready-made objects. During a one-month residency at the Museum, Peters will work with area college art students in the construction and installation of his work, thus providing a great opportunity for student artists to gain significant skills and experience.

This exhibit presents a wonderful selection of baskets and ceramics produced by Native Americans from the Southwest region. The exhibit provides an important opportunity to view historic pieces from the Ethnology collections of SNOMNH and contemporary works from the collections of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in a single venue. These objects are used to present stories of maintenance and revival, of tradition and innovation. The art forms continue to provide an important element of individual and community identity and a major arena for native and non-native interaction. The exhibition features works from a range of communities including the Navajo, Hopi, Tohono O’odam, Western Apache, and Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, Santa Domingo and Acoma Pueblos.

When a baker and his wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel and Jack (of the beanstalk fame). Everyone’s wish is granted but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with heart breaking results. Directed by Gregory Hopkins with Musical Direction by Mark McQuade & Jennifer McQuade.
