Wewoka
Which means "Barking Waters," was named by the Seminoles after a small falls to the north of the town-site. The town was founded in 1866 and is the capital of the Seminole Nation as well as the County Seat of Seminole County. During the 1920's Wewoka became known nationwide to people shipping via the railroad. Wewoka had one of the largest switching stations and delayed freight was stamped with the message "Caught in the Wewoka Switch," thus the phrase became synonymous with being late, delayed, or missing.
