El Reno

Established in 1889, El Reno was named for General Jesse L. Reno, who was killed in the Civil War battle of South Mountain in 1862. The "El" was prefixed to differentiate the town from the post offices at Reno City and Fort Reno. El Reno is located at the intersection of two historic highways, nostalgic Route 66 and the Chisholm Trail (Highway 81), in the heart of the Canadian River Valley.
